When I started my Sarcastic Haiku series, I wrote my first American Haiku.
An American Haiku doesn't care about tradition, formality or history. it takes as long as it wants to make its point because America. You can read

American Haiku is dummy-downed poetry form like American Sonnet. Advantages: easier access (to do) for beginner writers. Disadvantages: loosing connection/tradition to original form creator and since more writers and works - harder for a poet master to emerge from the quantity of published work.
So I'm holding myself back with my own actions? It wouldn't be the first time I've heard that.
