Before I Rush To The Common Protest In Progress
These days I'm either sleeping in South Boston or working in Jamaica Plain. This effectively keeps me out of the DNC loop, so I'm curious. Has anyone been snagged by the security net the DNC has thrown over us? Was it in a fair or unfair manner? I imagine someone must have a story to tell, but it surprised me yesterday and Saturday when I went all over the city with not only my backpack but my computer bag as well. I thought I was just asking for trouble, but...nothing. and there were various military and law enforcement officers in the trains and around the stations.
I've felt a presence--no doubt about that. Certainly not when I heard the helicopters fly over the Out of The Blue Gallery in Cambridge yesterday. But it's been all felt, not really experienced.
Then again, it is only day one, officially.
Share your stories with me, either via email or the comments section. I'll either post them or comment on them.
My final quesiton: For all the crap the Democrats have been getting about their stay in Boston (deserved or otherwise) months before it happened, has anyone heard anything about the Republican's dog and pony show next month? Talk about a media bias. I don't even want to think aboutthe planned (quote, unquote) free speech zone in what will be the one-week headquarters of the real evil empire.
Maybe they will regulate the protesters to school busses with windows that don't open wide enough for them to stick signs out. That way, they'll be easier to cart off to prison when it's all done. It's efficient, and it saves time and money cleaning the democracy off the streets. That would be, to quote George Carlin, a good, sound, biz-nesssss solution.
