Lest We Forget

From a geocite that's dated but still pretty relevant with its information, you can see that Judge Rehnquist, the one we're sympathizing with all of a sudden:

Wrote memorandum supporting Plessy v. Ferguson. In Plessy the Court endorsed state supported segregation and established that Jim Crow “separate but equal” principle was constitutional.

Wrote a proposed constitutional amendment designed to limit the enforcement of Brown v. Board of education.

Wrote memorandum endorsing Texas’ “Whites Only” Primaries.

Fought passage of ordinance permitting blacks to enter stores and restaurants.

Harassed minority voters in Arizona.

Voted to grant Bob Jones University tax exempt status.

Among other things, like that election that we never got to finish a couple of years ago.

Hopefully, A Kerry victory will be the last straw.
