It annoys me when news pieces come out reporting Iraq as if they're anything resembling an independent country. You know, "Iraq closes borders for elections," or "Iraq urges U.S. to stay longer."
It would be more accurate to write "U.S. closes Iraq borders," or even "Bush tells Iraqi Prime Minister to tell U.S. press conference that we're staying longer in Iraq." At least then the press would seem a little less like the president's lapdog trying to convince people that the U.S. presence is welcome.
Nothing is happening over there without the U.S. rubber stamp. That goes for whoever wins the the democratic facade we're calling election. I mean the Iraqi one, not ours, though it is confusing.
Maybe my spelled-out worldview will make the next S.H. easier to understand.
