I'm Declaring This Month NaPoReMo (or National Poetry Revising Month)

Kudos to everyone who played anlong. I had no idea if I was going to make it all the way through. As it was, I actually wanted to end with a thirty-first poem before real life intervened the way it did all month.

Though looking at last month's posts won't show it, it was only at the end of the final week that I actually risked getting really behind. Trouble was, the poems always started in my book of rough drafts. I have a habit of entering nearly all my poems in that before I put them into Word or Blogger. I'm glad that I was able to finish off the thirty poems before May 1st without being too tempted to cheat and set the clock back on the last few posts. I'm also glad that "Laughing At Stones," a poem that I threw out (long story) was put down on paper again after being rewritten in my head for what must be a hundreth time. I don't know if a rewrite (or a rediscovery) counts as an entry for NaPoWriMo or not, but what the hell.

Now, I really need to pick one for the proposed mini anthonlogy (thanks, Maureen), and I need to start revising more than a few of the rest. And I really, really, need to get the order of my Sarcastic Haiku series down in the correct order. I could be on number sixty, seventy, higher for all I freaking know at this point, which is why I haven't been numbering them for a while.

My goal for next year is to write less haiku and pace myself to post everyday, not go overboard in a single day--trying to do three or more in a single day--which happened at least twice.
