Annoying Thoughts Present: The Aqua Teen Hunger Nonsense

(Alternate Title: If Even F-Bombs Are An Act of Terrorism, I'm In Trouble)

It really irks me that in addition to Deval Patrick, some stories about the bomb scare--particulary the front page of the latest easy-to-ignore editon of the Boston Herald--have gone out of their way to label the marketing plan that shut parts of Boston down yesterday as a "hoax" instead of the guerilla marketing scheme it was (see the stories in today's Globe for very good coverage).

Calling the "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" ad campaign that used light boxes depicting the Err character (shown above) a "hoax" implies that the marketing company actually wanted Boston authorities to think there were bombs hanging everywhere. Comparing this to the "War of The Worlds" radio broadcast of 1938, as one local marketing muckamuck did, is also asinine.

Radical right people take note. Even so-called liberal Massachusetts can be just as easy to scare and quick to unneccessary action as any ol' red state. Granted, it took us weeks after these light boxes were hung.

Mark my words that if Governor Patrick ever runs for president, he'll use the moronic events of yesterday to show that he's tough on terror.
