Uploaded for archiving purposes and my own amusement.
From Doug Holder's show "Poet to Poet/Writer to Writer," recorded every month on Somerville Community Access TV.
Witness me trying to sound intelligent in my first interview ever as an author.
Some Notes: Lynne Sticklor is also known as The Prize Lady. He called her a "mutual friend" of ours, though I was dating her at the time. Kinda funny.
The name of the co-founder of Cosmic Orange Press is NOT Victor Cayro, but Felipe Victor Martinez. Felipe went by Victor at the time, but Cayro? Boy, I screwed up there.
I had only featured at Stone Soup. I had no idea I was going to be hosting and organizing the venue. None.
Doug says at one point that I mentioned that the Emerson College writing program was a mess. That's not exactly true. It was the publishing department that was messed up, which was a good part of why I changed to creative writing as a major.
No scary Bill Knott stories. sorry, dirt seekers.
I probably bored the crap out of Doug with my middle-of-the-road comments on slam poetry and MFA programs.
Ah, the callers. Gotta love public access. I still can't figure out what the crank caller yelled out.
And my rambling! It's hard to admit that you wrote and self-published a book because you thought you were never going to write again. I get around to that, eventually.
Almost twenty years of schooling, and I still get hung up when anyone asks me about theme.
Luckily, Doug is a pro. He gets me to read a poem from my Self-Portrait chapbook. Shut up and read the poem. Always a good strategy for both interviews and open mikes.
Doug is also wise to move me away from talking about theme and help me get my geek on about blogs.
Doug filmed his show alone, and it was live. Everything was set up ahead of time to record, so we had to start and end when his timer said so, as you can see at the end.

Thanks Chad for putting our interview online. I was the first to interview you, but you were the first to put me on youtube for the bagel bards commercial and you are the first, to my knowledge, to put a Poet to Poet interview online on youtube. I did my first radio interview online with Poetry Superhighway on Blogtalk radio Best--Doug
