Today is the birthday of my father, who passed away almost two years ago. Last weekend marked the anniversary of my grandfather's death. For today only, for family members and friends of family on the web, I am posting on my main blog this project created last Christmas as the brainchild of my sister.
My sister chose all the music. Much to my horror. I wasn't taken back by her taste, but by the amount of songs. Each song chosen meant an album's worth of pictures to be scanned, edited, and placed into the Windows Movie maker program. I originally thought this was going to be one song per person (my mother and grandmother). It turned out she envisioned it as a seven song project for both of them. I begged her to let me take two songs out, given that it meant eight less hours on the scanner and much less time trying to tie a theme to each chapter. I more or less tied each theme down to separate timelines, only cheating a bit when I got to part III with the montage of studio/graduation photos and part V with the more upbeat, sillier photos. Yes, Smokey makes an appearance or three, but at Kristen's request. I ended with her and Mom, striking the point that this was her idea and if not for her, I wouldn't have tried anything this crazy, though I'm glad she made me.
Intended as a Christmas gift, I finally got it done on New Year's Eve and showed it on January 1st of this year. To this date, my Meme (my mother's mother), has not seen it.
