My work was rejected for the "Mayor’s Prose & Poetry Program" exhibition at City Hall. I'm bummed, but I was already accepted once back in 2007, and I purposefully submitted work of a different bent this time around, so my ego is unbruised.
What made this attempt different was that I included work that showed a sometimes not-so-nice side of the city I love.
This included Rat Poem, "Celtics Poem," and the title poem from my chapbook Discarded. The one about the alcoholic roommate.
So my submissions were probably doomed from the start, but it was worth a try. Hey, what if I succeeded?
