My June 1st Reading at Broad Street Books

On June 1st, 2010, I took a one day trip via Amtrak for a reading at the store followed by an interview at the Wesleyan University radio station WESU (located directly above the store) for the radio show "Art of Air," hosted by J-Cherry.

Thankfully, the storm that occurred while driving
from the New Haven station wasn't a bad omen
for the night head.

But it sure wasn't any good omen either.

Bret: "I told God you were coming."

Me: "Yeah, thanks at lot, Bret."

Friends Corrie and Bret at their new home.

And their two year old daughter, Lily.

And a monkey.

And now two monkeys.

Our dinner stop before I headed to the book store.

Some of the art work on display in the restaurant.

Monkey alert!

Broad Street Books didn't have a sign I could use to help promote the feature. They can have this one.

Or this one.

Bret takes a few pics.

Hi. Pretentious bastard. And you?

Sweet!

Trespassers will be sestined.

Bret continues to have me work it.

The open mikers converse while waiting.

Brian Mitchard starts off the night.

On with the reading. Photos of me
by Bret Kerr (again)

I seem to make the worst faces when reciting
my "Lion of Lonley-Hearts" poem. Not reflective
of my mood, I promise you.

See? It was a happy reading.

After the reading, it's up to the WESU office.

You right, Dave Mustaine. Your first album cover
was horrible.

"Ooooh. We're recording live."

Getting prepped for the radio interview.

Bret continues to be my press agent.

WESU's "Art of Air, host, J. Cherry.

Signing the guest book.

The interview begins. It was one of the
better interviews I've given to date.

Bret catches me in action. As a former college
DJ, it was fun to be behind a console again.

Post-show photos.

It's always allowed to put your arm around
someone in a photo, right? (owww)

Open mike continues. Was able to catch some
of the regulars before I had to go.

Thanks to all for coming.

You too.
