My Formal Farewell to Summer

I've had a tradition of posting an end to summer poem the last few years.  It occurred to me recently that I didn't post it back when summer ended calendar-wise.  It also occurred to me that the web journal that published it no longer exists. So here it is with the hope (from a person who does not do well in the heat), that nothing else will interrupt the arrival of sweater weather, written in hay(na)ku form.

Bye to Summer

Back
to school,
spoiled, rich bitch,

your
concert tickets
bought by mom

and
car on
loan till one.

Now,
go find
a real job,

one
that doesn’t
continue after hours,

drinking
with the
lifetime mall chefs,

who
sit there,
biding their time,

selecting
new brides
from summer help.
