I saw and photographed this accident on the way to my girlfriend's apartment last night. First I was walking and wondering why someone would be pressing their horn while workers were struggling to remove snow. Then I saw the poor truck, its horn crushed into constant, futile protest.
I overheard that the driver of the truck (who thankfully was somewhere out of the truck and apparently unharmed) thought the operator of the digger shovel noticed him as he was trying to either do a U turn or cross over to a side street.
The moral? Never make assumptions of anyone or anything that's both bigger than you and capable of doing you a great deal of damage.
