NaPoWriMo, Day Thirty, Poem Twenty-Eight

Anthem

We who do not
deserve to die
neccessarily

we who shift
your schadenfreude

we too old
to break bad
instead break badly

roosting on windowsills
waiting for those
who shout at our
neighbors for pills

who are hit and
run over so much
we are blase even
to those who give
testimony and
license numbers

We salute ourselves
by taking photos
cropping empty chairs
at our threadbare rallies
Enacting CGI crime shows
to find our smiles
enhance it
enhance it
enhance it
