I was recently moved to find online copies of Army Man, arguably one of the most influential zines of our time, given that its three-issue run helped give us people like SNL's Jack Handy and Simpson's architect George Meyer, who was also the zine's creator. \
And I found them!
I was urged to find copies after I picked up a copy of the Harvard Lampoon. In all my years living in Boston, this is the first time I've ever come across an issue. The product was...decidedly different from what you'd think after viewing their website. My first thought was, This seems very...Army Man.
Meyer may or may not take that as a compliment, given that he once served as Harvard Lampoon's president. Was Meyer's Army Man an attempt to keep on doing Harvard Lampoon? Or is the Harvard Lampoon is trying to do its best version of Army Man?
I need to read more about this.
