Holiday Gratitude

I've appreciated seeing this section of lights over the years of walking South Boston during the holidays.

It's an empty garage, as far as I've seen. Furthermore it's across the street from an equally empty store front that used to, I'm told, be home to a number of phone stores before drying up. Pretty much a dead corner.

And yet, whoever owns this piece of land makes sure not only to hang lights on the fence but also put up and decorate a tree.

I don't consider this presentation as some kind of trench for the "Christmas Wars" that have flared up over the past few years. Instead, I see it as a sincere effort. Quiet and very effective, it cheers me up  a little every time I walk by it.
