The
Norwich Arts Center's January open mic is this Wednesday at 6:30 pm in
the Donald L. Oat theater on the third floor of the Norwich Arts Center,
62 Broadway, Norwich. Artists from all genres and all degrees of
experience are invited to participate.
This
month's feature is poet Charlie Chase. Author of two full-length
poetry books and two chapbooks, Charlie has been active on the CT Poetry
scene for many years. He has been a long-time member of several poetry
groups and is the former president of the Middletown chapter of the
Connecticut Poetry Society. He has edited two poetry anthologies, run
writers retreats and countless other poetry events. With Faith
Vicinanza, Charlie brought Slam Poetry to CT in the early 90's, setting
up numerous slam venues across the state. He has presented his poetry
throughout CT, as well as in Providence, Boston, New York, Chicago and
San Francisco where he competed in the Slam Nationals as a member of
CT's first slam poetry team. His poetry has also appeared in numerous
journals and anthologies. Charlie is currently President of the Norwich
Arts Center and runs its open mic program.
Please
join us to watch or participate -- it's always a fun night. This is a
free event, though donations are gratefully accepted. Bring your own or
buy refreshments at the concession.
Please note: the NAC open mic has moved permanently to the second Wednesday of each month.
