Join us in welcoming the 2017 House Slam National Poetry Slam Team! The House Slam at the Haley House Bakery Cafe in Roxbury was founded in 2015, kicking in the door of the national poetry scene by sweeping all three major national competitions in their first year of existence. The following year, the House Slam NPS team made final stage again and already this year a House Slam rep won the Women of the World Poetry Slam. Jasmine Roberts, Zenaida Peterson, Angelica Maria Aguilera, Kofi Dadzie, and Marshall Gilson competed against some of the best poets in the city and surrounding cities, and won the chance to represent Boston at the National Poetry Slam this year. The team is raising funds to travel to Denver, Colorado for the slam, so you can look forward to purchasing some home made bath scrubs and other pampering products crafted by Zenaida Peterson.
Doors open and dinner is served at 7. Open mic begins around 7:30. Free for under 26, $10 suggested donated for over 26. Learn more at the Facebook event page.
