My poem "shots fired" wasn't specifically written with the recent violence in Chicago in mind, but I'm grateful to What rough Beast for not only for publishing another recent poem of mine but also for adding a little end note in reference to the unfortunate events in that state.
Sadly, the poem feels even more relevant.
