September16, 2017 Poets Regie Gibson and Brockton High School Senior, Leylani Moniz to Perform in the Driscoll Gallery, Main Branch, Brockton Public Library, 204 Main Street, Brockton MA from 2:00 to 5:00pm.The Brockton Library Poetry Series “Everyone Has a Voice” will be held on the third Saturday of each month, featuring a veteran poet and a student poet followed by the open mic. Sign up for the open mic begins one half hour before the start time. We are excited to bring you these readings in the Driscoll Gallery from 2:00 – 5:00 during the months of September, October, March, May, and June, and from 1:00 – 4:00 during the months of November – February. There will be no reading in April, as it is reserved for the Soaring Without Limits: Healing Through the Arts exhibit and reception. We will have a tentative hiatus (subject to change) during July and August. We look forward to seeing all who can attend. Unity is only achieved through embracing diversity, all else is fruitless adversity. Everyone Has a Voice, please join us, and share yours.Feature Bios:Regie Gibson:Mr. Gibson has lectured & performed in the U.S., Cuba & Europe. Representing the U.S., Regie competed for and received the Absolute Poetry Award in Monfalcone, Italy. Himself and his work appear in love jones: a feature-film based on events in his life. He is a former National Poetry Slam Champion, has featured on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, On Point, Radio Boston, & other NPR programs. Regie has performed at several TED X events & has been nominated for a Boston Emmy.Leylani Moniz:Ms. Moniz is a Brockton High Senior who started writing poetry in her freshman year as a means to understand the world around her. Leylani began her writing career through the Baroneza Project, a creative writing project for young women that began in 2013. Meeting regularly in the Brockton Public Library, it was the Baroneza Project that demonstrated to Leylani the powerful effect that writing would have by transforming her life, her world view, and lead her to believe that she is indeed a writer now and forever.Your poetry hosting team,Philip Hasouris, Rich Berg, Joseph Policape, and Tim Reed
