It's taken a couple of days to sit down and write this. This past Thursday, I received word from Brew on the Grid management that they've been instructed to change their closing time to 8:00 PM instead of 10:00 PM.
Management has been gracious enough to let our feature with Mark Lipman this Thursday go on at it's scheduled 8-10 PM time. After that, everything is uncertain. We may just have to move the event from 6-8 PM.
I am moving forward as best as I can. I am hoping to buy a microphone and stand from Best Buy this Wednesday, possibly a sound system if the one that's been offered is incompatible. But it may not matter in the end.
The point I'm dodging around is that we need people to come.
If even under a tenth of the people in the Stone Soup Facebook group ends up coming this Thursday (buying at least a drink in the process), we just might be able to convince the Brew's higher ups that it's worth keeping the place open late at least one day a week.
If not, then Stone Soup will just become what it was already becoming with our previous early start time during our last stretch at Out of The Blue: a boutique, 6-10 person, 6-8 PM open mic with less chance for features to profit from appearing because people in the city simply don't get out of work early enough to make the start time.
That just makes it more important for me to announce my next Stone Soup related project. If I'm lucky, I can announce that by the end o the week.
Please come this Thursday.
