“Making Poetry Accessible to Everyone”
Presented by local
poet and newspaper columnist Bill Alberti, who will render a reading of his
original poetry and speak about what inspires a poem.
Bill will conduct
a discussion addressing the questions:
What is poetry?
What inspires a poem?
What is the poetic process?
How does poetry enrich our lives?
Bill Alberti,
a Brooklyn-born poet-artist and musician, earned his B.A. from Stonehill College,
his Master of Creative Arts from Bridgewater
State University,
an honorary degree from Nanjing University
and completed post-graduate studies at the University of Ireland.
Bill, who worked with Robert Pinsky, a former National Poet Laureate of the
U.S., has five published chapbooks of poetry and many of his poems have
appeared in various newspapers and journals.
He is the author of the newspaper column, The Poet’s Pen. Bill’s poems cover a variety of topics and are
noted for their ease of accessibility, and often, their sense of humor.
This program is supported in

Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state
agency.
