Brockton High Student, Jaeden
Boatwright hopes to become a successful published poet/author in
general. I will have a short “chiller” published by the Young Writers
organization
which is a huge confidence booster. My biggest inspirations would have
to be Rupi Kaur and r.h. Sin. I’m actually hoping to soon self-publish a
collection I’ve recently begun, “to yesterday from today.” I have very
high ambitions in terms of what I can accomplish
writing. I have been able to take immense weight off my shoulders. I
have managed to build a great connection with myself. I have gained
confidence, started rebuilding my backbone, been able to connect with
other people and aid them in overcoming situations
similar to mine. These accomplishments may not all include golden
awards or being interviewed by Ellen, but it makes them that much more
important.
This is a free event.
The Brockton Library Poetry Series “Everyone Has a Voice” is
held on the third Saturday of each month, with a featured poet followed
by a student poet and wrapped up with the open mic. Sign up for the
open mic begins one half hour before the start time. We are excited to
bring you these readings in the Driscoll Gallery from 2:00 – 5:00 during
the months of September, October, March, May,
and June, and from 1:00 – 4:00 during the months of November –
February. There will be no reading in April, as it is reserved for
the Soaring Without Limits: Healing Through the Arts exhibit and
reception. We will have a tentative hiatus (subject to change)
during July and August. We look forward to seeing all who can
attend. Unity is only achieved through embracing diversity, all else is
fruitless adversity. Everyone Has a Voice, please join us, and share
yours.
