Kevin Carey
Kevin Carey is an Assistant Professor in the English Department at Salem State University. He has published three books - a chapbook of fiction, The Beach People from Red Bird Chapbooks (2014) and two books of poetry from Cavankerry Press, The One Fifteen to Penn Station (2012) and Jesus Was a Homeboy (2016) which was recently selected as an Honor Book for the 2017 Paterson Poetry Prize. His poems have been featured on The Writer's Almanac and "poem a day" sponsored by the Academy of American Poets. Kevin's new play "The Stand or Sal is Dead" a murder mystery comedy had its world premiere in Newburyport, MA. at The Actor's Studio on June 21st. Kevincareywriter.com

Julia Carlson a Graduate of Boston University & the University of Toulouse-le-Mirail, France, studied Philosophy & Linguistics. Also, MSW, Boston University, worked as a clinical social worker until retirement a few years ago. 1st Fiction Editor of the Wilderness House LIterary Review, & editor of Bagel Bards Anthology V. Poetry in many small presses, e.g., Ibbetson House, Wilderness House Literary Review, Lyrical Somerville, Fresh! Magazine, & Muddy River Poetry Review. Davis Kidd Poetry Award, 2001; Winner, PoetryKit Spring Competition, 2017. Chapbooks: Turn of the Century, (Cloudkeeper Press, 2008) & Drift (March Hare Press,2012), Most recently, Prayer for the Misbegotten. (Oddball Press, 2017). A Cantabrigian, I like reading, art, rock n roll, & a wee dram on a cold night.

Lee Varon is a writer and social worker. Her poetry and short stories have been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and published in various magazines including Ibbetson Street, Constellations Anthology, Muddy River Poetry Review and The Somerville Times. In 2017, Finishing Line Press published her chapbook, Affairs Run in the Family. She is the co-editor of the anthology Spare Change News Poems: An Anthology by Homeless People and those Touched by Homelessness, published by Ibbetson Street Press in 2018.


The Center for the Arts is located between Davis Square and Union Square. Parking is located behind the armory at the rear of the building. Arts at the Armory is approximately a 15 minute walk from Davis Square which is on the MTBA Red Line. You can also find us by using either the MBTA RT 88 and RT 90 bus that can be caught either at Lechmere (Green Line) or Davis Square (Red Line). Get off at the Highland Avenue and Lowell Street stop. You can also get to us from Sullivan Square (Orange Line) by using the MBTA RT 90 bus. Get off at the Highland Avenue and Benton Road stop.
