Though I'm glad that Jimmy Kimmel got back on the air, it's important to remember that talk show hosts are not the voice of the voiceless. They are panderers to the lowest common denominator for the largest possible amount of advertising dollars. That goes for elder statesman David Letterman, who does not come out well in the late Harvey Pekar's stories from the eighties ("See, it's just like professional wrestling..."). Here's a page from the story, "My Struggle with Corporate Corruption and Network Philistinism," originally published in American Splendor #13, written by Pekar with artwork by Joe Zabel and Gary Dumm.
