Your Wednesday Morning Poetry

This May I'll mark Stone Soup's fifty-fifth anniversary by featuring some of its lost friends. I'll start with John Wieners, who passed away in 2002. Here is his poem "Forthcoming," courtesy of Poets.org.

Thirty-One Days of Stone Soup Stuff

A 1992 program for The Wang Center Small Press Festival. Jack Powers was on both the Small Press Festival Executive and Planning Committees for this event. Carol Weston, John Wieners, Joanna Nealon and so many others were part of it. Relics from the past like this help to remind all of us what's been done before and what we can potentially do today.

SAFE DISTANCE EDITION - Stone Soup Croutons, 5-12-21: Crash Course

Stone Soup Croutons is a weekly poem I write using lines and impressions picked from Stone Soup Poetry's open mic readers and features. I figure out a title (and sometimes the rest of the poem) later. You can read the other ones I've done since 2015 here.

John Landry gave the best kind of Stone Soup feature I could have asked for in these times. Full of tributes to Stone Soup's past, figures including Arlene Stone, Charles Shively, John Wieners and, of course, Jack Powers. I broke the poem into two parts. Part one represents more the open mic. Part two represents John's feature segment.
