A true master of the arts has passed. I loved his work and loved seeking it out. I found his plays in libraries and used bookstores. I rented Little Murders from Tower Records. His children's book The Man Man In the Ceiling was a love letter to young artists and had the power to touch people at any age. I found a copy of Tantrum at Trident Booksellers & Cafe years before they released a reprinted version complete with an introduction by Neil Gaiman to sell the book to younger audiences (dodged a bullet). He was screwed over by The Village Voice, a paper he was synonymous with since it's early days, so it was justice that he outlived it. Now that I'm older, Now in the midst of my ongoing midlife crisis, I need to re-seek out his work again. It deserves reprinting more than ever. A great commentator on politics and the human condition, he left the world exactly like the title of his initial strip, "Sick Sick Sick." We're sicker than ever, but he remained himself through it all.
