Unwind with Anne
Hope you're relaxing this Labor Day Monday. Kick back with Anne Skove's comic "She Who Laughs Last" at Oddball Magazine.
Happy Labor Day!
I'm making this an annual thing until the Homestar Runner people do more Labor Day content.

Happy Labor Day Weekend
Hope your long weekend and first days of the month have so far been enjoyable.
Got news that I'll be getting published again in the Fall by Wilderness House Literary Review. Plus I'll finally be getting a copy of the Survival anthology later next week. Nice that things keep moving forward.
It may be a laborious Labor Day weekend. Let's see if I can get things done before the big barbecue.

Coming Back
I kept trying to work this weekend, but I spent most of the weekend semi-comatose. Luckily, I was feeling better this morning and was able to edit a whole chapbook's worth of poems. And these are poems that I've left in an envelope for three years.
Back to work on new things. What else would you do on Labor Day weekend?

Stone Soup Croutons, 9-5-16, Before You Begin
Yesterday was our Labor Day reading, and Tom Daley returned to us. Throughout the night, I kept feeling this week's crouton would have a lot to live up to given the caliber of both the open mic readers and the feature. I added a lot more wordplay than I would normally have been comfortable with. Thankfully, I had a killer first line from Lee Varon that lent much to the imagination. Only I now feel the need for another disclaimer.
I keep half-joking that if I ever do a collection of these poems, it will be titled Confessions of a Stone Soup Chef. I emphasize again that the Stone Soup Chef in most of these poems is not me. Now, if only I could just as easily dispel all the other things people think about me. Here's the poem, and many thanks to everyone who attended last night.
Before You Begin
Work reminds you tomorrow is
Take Your Girlfriend to Detox Day.
For years she has failed to kick
her terminal longing for you.
This time, she left her you-colored glasses
back in the suburbs.

September 5: Tom Daley and Labor Day
Happy September everyone. The hot days are (somewhat) going away, and a new school year is upon us. this means many returning people and what I hope will be many new aces. We're going back to tradition, so Tom Daley will be returning to his annual Labor Day feature. I'm excited about this, and I hope you plan on making this event. Especially if you haven't been to Stone Soup in a while or have never been to before. Many great things are on the way. All we need is you.
