#TBT Photo

Taken during the Republican National Convention. I don't know where the quote "It's better to study the living fact than to analyze history," came from. A search reveals nothing. Probably something an ad writer came up with. I liked it's juxtaposition amidst the chaos on the streets, including the "Goat with a Vote" performers, who I saw perform here and  months later at the 2000 Debate protest at UMass Boston.

Stone Soup Croutons, 10-10-16, Town Hall

Stone Soup Croutons is a weekly poem I write using lines and impressions picked up from poems overheard from Stone Soup's open mic readers and features. I figure out a title (and sometimes the rest of the poem) later. To paraphrase Lorne Michaels, the poem doesn't go up because it's good; it goes up because it's Tuesday morning. I've done fifty of them now, and you can access them all here.

Last night I was back, and it was another all-open mic. Not a lot of people came. That's what sometimes happens when it's the end of a long weekend. Still, it was nice having people to talk with after yesterdays' debates, with James an Looy performing a piece that will be up on Oddball Magazine later this week in It's All One Thing.

So of course I have to make it about Trump again. Kind of. Sort of.

October 10: Stone Soup Lives! Return of The Open Mic!

I took this long to post the information for tonight's all-open mic at Stone Soup because I wasn't sure if there was enough interest to have it. Don't worry. I'll have new information for next week up on the Stone Soup blog later today and here tomorrow. It turns out there is, so I'll see you there tonight. I hope you enjoyed the holiday weekend. I spent most of it working, then I watched last night's spectacle. At least we're not short on things to talk about. Maybe I'll see you there too.

Not Debatable

Skip the spectacle tonight. Come instead to Stone Soup Poetry to hear M.I.D.N.I.G.H.T. I promise to riff on the debates if I can (get streaming video at the gallery) and get anything of interest without throwing up.
