My Vindication for 2023: Thanks Dark Side of the Ring

My piece on the WWE and homophobia included a passage I almost took out.
I remember watching Adonis wrestle on TV, and a fan in the audience had a sign saying something along the lines of, “What restroom does it use?”
I wanted to find the visual to back this up so badly. I never could. I left the passage in. If someone wanted to call me out and say I was wrong, so be it.

Turns out I was right, as that fan footage was used (how could it not be) in the "Dark Side of the Ring" episode with Adrian Adonis.

Poems I'm Proud of in 2023: My Adrian Adonis Piece

For once in 2023 I was ahead of the curve, publishing both my article about the WWE and homophobia and my poem "Adorable Adrian Adonis Shoots His Own Ballad" in The Ugly Monster before the "Dark Side of the Ring" documentary on Adrian Adonis came out. I even got the attention of the wrestler's surviving family, which I found flattering.

Milestone

My article on the WWE and homophobia now has 50 fans via Medium. I'm grateful for the attention. See what the fuss is all about over at The Ugly Monster.

Bringing Up This Monster Again

Now that the Adrian Adonis episode of "Dark Side of the Ring" has aired, "I figured I might bring up this piece again. "Adorable Adrian Adonis Shoots His Own Ballad" is a followup to the recent essay I wrote about the WWE and their history of homophobia. Check both out at The Ugly Monster.

Another Monster is Up

Thanks so much to Eric N. Peterson for the wonderful artwork that's included in my poem at The Ugly Monster today. "Adorable Adrian Adonis Shoots His Own Ballad" acts as a companion piece to the recent essay I wrote about the WWE and their history of homophobia. Check both out now.
