In a Perfect World

Scene: Secret location on alternate Earth where George Carlin never died and waits for the end of the world from his secret location on a comfortable sofa. George Carlin acolyte--who George Carling cant stand but keeps around out of pity--enters.

Acolyte: Lord Carlin?

Carlin: Don't call me that you silly prick! What's up now?

Your Weekly Dose of God

Because I'm in a cantankerous mood this week, here's George Carlin's famous bit on the sanctity of life.

Stone Soup Croutons, 1-29-20, All Destinations Are Final

Stone Soup Croutons is a weekly poem I write using lines and impressions picked from Stone Soup's open mic readers and features. I figure out a title (and sometimes the rest of the poem) later. You can read the other ones I've done since 2015 here. To paraphrase Lorne Michaels, this poem doesn't go up because it's ready, it goes up because it's Friday morning.

David P. Miller gave us a great reading last night. It was a night of few poets but plenty of poet aficionados, in line for his book. The best kind of night a former librarian could have, I suspect.

David read a few public transportation poems as part of his set, which is partially what fed into this week's poem. You'll have to pull me aside for the other half. But not the title. I'll just tell you now that's from an old George Carlin routine. Thanks for reading.

All Destinations Are Final

Bundles, bundles packed
with all the white matter
their brains can hold.

Shadows tucked in corners
they hope get missed
during bag check.

Look upon my obscure reference, ye George Carlin fans, and despair!

People I Want to See Tonight at Stone Soup

Chris Robbins

Chris recently aired his frustrations with the Boston poetry scene. Can't say I haven't been there myself for different reasons. I would hate to see him withdraw. When he's not trying to steal bits and manneriksms from his hero, George Carlin, he sometimes shares his own voice, which I have desperately tried to bottle and share with others for years.

Nameless The Cat

Apparently, there's a new cat living at the Out of The Blue Art Gallery. I haven't see it yet. The only evidence thus far is this drawing that warned volunteers to keep the dogs away from it. I think it found a home via Joanna "jojo Lazar or someone associated with her. I hope I get to see it before it moves on to its permanent home.
