A band does a new punk version of "We Are the World" is something I didn't know I needed until now. Thank you, Spike and the Gimme Gimmes.

Focusing on new music again this week. Starting with another band new to me.
I think Canadian law requires me to finish this week of Canadian artists to play more Bryan Adams. But I'm playing the one you don't hear as much as that "Summer of 69" song.
I can now say that I went to Canada last week. Specifically Montreal. I'll be posting about my trip later this morning and even more later this week. For now, here is more Canadian music starting with one of my favorite songs from Barenaked Ladies.
A musical and literal journey comes to an end this Friday. First, some Arcade Fire for the morning.
Let's focus on music that views summer as a positive time of year (PS I hate summer). Bryan Adams is the most logical first choice.
I'm indebted to the Launch Yahoo! app for playing selections like this one from Neil Young's Sleeps With Angles album.
While I always preferred the long version of "Toltal Eclipse of the Heart," I have to include the music video version of this song. This has everything you'd expect in a video. Did I see ninjas too? RIP Bonnie Tyler. It didn't take many songs on the radio to make you immortal.
My Bonnie Tyler tribute continues now and concludes later with the most obvious picks. How many movies has this song been featured in, and it never got old.
Bonnie Tyler passed away last week. Starting my tribute to her this week with the first song I ever heard from her on the radio.

One more from Donald Fagen's Kamakiriad album. I wasn't sure what song to include, but then I found out Rick Moranis was in the video for "Tomorrow's Girls." Truly a summer song. Be safe this weekend.
It's weird to think of a song like "Snowbound" from Donald Fagen's Kamakiriad album as a summer song, but I do.
For a change, I'm focusing on an album from my young summer days. Kamakiriad by Donald Fagen was introduced to me by my then-girlfriend during my senior year at college. It became an unofficial soundtrack for the last part of my year and the summer. I recommend the album, especially if you're a Steely Dan fan. Here's the first of a selection of songs from the album.
