The End and The Beginning at Oddball Magazine

Lately it seems like our two Thursday poem-columnists have been working together despite having very little contact with each other. They work very well together today to not only bring an end to April and National Poetry Month but also to bring in the month May, which marks Stone Soup's forty-forth anniversary month.

April 27: Jonathan J. Joseph at Stone Soup

I'm excited about this coming Monday. Not only are we closing out National Poetry Month on April 27, but also because we are featuring Jonathan J. Joseph, a young man (I'm old enough that I can call someone a "young man" in a sentence, aren't I?) who has been an amazing presence at Stone Soup's open mic these many months. His feature is well-deserved. Some may call it overdue. His work has been seen discreetly (almost secretly) for a while, and now he comes to the forefront, starting with his poem in this week's Stone Soup Servings at Oddball Magazine. I just might call it Stone S. Soup for the night.

April 20: Liza Zayas Brings Verse and Song to Stone Soup

Poet, singer, and songwriter Liza Zayas is one of the many people I've met this past year at Stone Soup that I've been waiting to bring to the podium. This Monday, it's going to happen as we get closer to the end of National Poetry Month and the beginning of Stone Soup Poetry's forty-forth anniversary month. National Poetry Month and Oddball Magazine

We won't be this kind of work every day of National Poetry Month, but for today at Oddball Magazine I found some poet/poetry related pieces that would be perfect for to help kick off this month of reading, listening and writing.

March 30: Gloria Mindock Has Much to Celebrate at Stone Soup

I hope you will all join me this Monday for what will surely be an excellent reading by poet, editor and publisher Gloria Mindock. As I've written and said elsewhere, this will be an excellent transition reading. Not only will Stone Soup be segueing into National Poetry Month but Gloria will also be celebrating the tenth anniversary of Červená Barva Press, a publishing imprint she founded and continues to operate out of her home. This is an amazing accomplishment. The best way to thank her for her years of work and service to the poetry community is to be in attendance for Monday and stay tuned for any future celebration readings, which I may or may not be a part of.  Also, read her poem from Friday's Stone Soup Servings column in Oddball Magazine.
