A Bad But Neccessary Break Up
It was scary at first, but it was worth it. I have officially decided to stop taking the E train to work. Sorry T. I use you every chance I get. Stick up for you whenever I see fit. I just can't handle it anymore. The E train to work is an excerise in self-abuse.
The abuse has been pretty consistent since I started commuting the Brigham from my South Boston apartment. It was offset a little by reluctantly taking the CT3 once in a while, but that stopped when I went to the Boston VA, located off of Heath Street, the final stop for the E train. Those extra 6 stops--when the train actually elected to go on instead of making the final stop at Brigham Circle--were agony.
Yesterday moring, already at my limit when the red line broke a record for the quickest opening-and-shutting of their doors, I again broke my vow to never take a bus and hopped on the 39 at Copley, which some said was quicker.
I've loathed buses for a long time. Avoided them on principal. And yet, even though this is only the second day I took the 39, I already can't look back.
Farewell to the single train packed with assholes who crush ribs just to get from Park to Boylston. Farewell to the lowest of the low drivers who I'm convinced are driving E trains because they're on probation from drinking on the job. And farewell to the only train that makes it obvious that the T trains are only as reliable as the stretch of commerce it covers. C train? No problems in Brookline. B train? Those students get around or the rich parents complain. D train? More trains than what are needed. The E train once it reaches the last chain supermarket and money making hospital in it's path? Sorry. The VA is not important enough! You should have paid for your health care.
Good f-ing riddance!
