Congratulations to my friends and the friends of my friends who had a stake in this ongoing battle for gay marriage. This has gone on for too long, and they deserve to rest on the laurels of this victory for a couple of months. I don't say four years, mind you, since the opposition are already clawing their way back up to fight again. Bet on it.
I remember the literature of quite a few of these conservative zealots from a few years ago. In their arguments against gay marriage and homosexuality in general, they still quoted as sources the words of "scientists" who claimed AIDS could be transferred through the skin and called for quarantine back in the eighties. A lack of reason allows them to do it with a straight and no sense of irony or falsehood. That same lack of reason is what will keep them going and will help them win if we forget about them for an instant.
