Prep Work, Part 7

I'll be using Blogger's labels function now, at least so I can keep better track when I post a "series." It will be easier for anyone else who wants to follow along as well, of course. You can just click on the "Prep Work" label below if you need to catch up.

Gloria Mindock let her to-be-published authors know recently that by this December we'll be getting a contract and the order in which we'll be published in 2008. I may be getting one more chapbook published next year complete with a scheduled feature or two (more on that when I get further verification), so I may email Gloria to see if it's possible I can sell two new chapbooks at the same time (four altogether including Self-Portrait In Fire and Sarcastic Haiku).

You might recall that in an earlier post how I ran into G., an old roommate from the Coolidge Corner apartment, who was in touch with _____, the cause of all our aggravation (or, that is to say, all the aggravation after G. was smart enough to leave once the lease was up for renewal). I promised him more details and even got his email. Since confirming it, however, I have decided to forgo any future correspondence (it's not like he's even emailed me since, making him the smarter person once again).

I don't want to give to risk anything getting back to _____. I don't want to give that person any more power. Heck, I don't want to even give this person a name or state their sex.

It amazes me how off the radar this _____ has been since leaving that apartment nearly ten years ago. Yahoo! and Google searches have yielded nothing. Even when I got the town _____ was in, the search results were no better. It made me realize how much his/her ilk thrive on going through life unnoticed, preferring to be a terrifying force in the lives of those who are around them.

The power of _____ is in direct proportion to the number of people who choose who are foolish and/or unfortunate enough to stay in his/her presence. Best that it stays that way and gets no further help from me.
