A mutual friend of many of us in the Boston area, Lynne Sticklor, also known as "The Prize Lady," was recently in an accident involving her car and a Harvard university bus. Although Lynne was unhurt, the damage to her car door is substantial. To make matters worse, her insurance is now informing her that she is not covered for collision (due to an error when she switched insurance companies). Lynne is currently fighting for some hint of fairness and in the meantime is taking a rental to work.
In addition to being a close friend of mine, Lynne has been a friend to many people in the poetry scene for years. In addition to helping produce several of Ibbetson Street's books, she has also steadfastly supported Stone Soup and continues to do so even remotely as the co-editor of Spoonful. Her support for the Out of The Blue Art Gallery is also without question, having been one of the pivotal organizers and donators for the 2005 fund raiser for the gallery's non-profit status.
Over the last couple of years, Lynne has made many life-changes, including a new home in Beverly. Having to commute to work, an accident such as this can be potentially devastating to anybody.
Lynne has provided so much for our scene, it has inspired me to plead with everyone I can to gather and give some love back to someone who never asks us for anything.
By coincidence, Lynne Sticklor will be performing as "The Prize Lady" at Stone Soup this coming Monday (located at the Out of The Blue Gallery). I'll be selling my books for donations. I urge anybody else to come on Monday and lend your support and donate what you can.
If you can not come by on Monday, contact me at freakmachinepress at yahoo dot com and let me know how you would like to help.
