Info on drop-in workshops for writers working in creative prose on Friday afternoons in Lexington from August 2-September 27, 2013

Word from Tom Daley...

Dear writers:

I am conducting a series of drop-in workshops for writers working in creative prose from 2:30-4:30 pm on nine Fridays in August and September (2013). We'll meet at the Lemon Grass Restaurant (Thai food) on Massachusetts Avenue in downtown Lexington.

You'll each get at least 20 minutes, and a chance to workshop a piece of creative prose (memoir, storytelling, fiction, comedy, personal essay, etc.) that is up to 1,250 words (the normal limit in my workshops is 750 words).

This will be a chance for those of you who would like some critical input and encouragement to get it without a commitment to an entire nine-week session.

The cost per drop-in-session is $34.00. You must commit to coming to three of the eight Fridays if you want to participate (three meetings will cost $102). You may choose between three and eight of the Fridays. Please note that August 30 (Friday before Labor Day) and September 13 (start of Yom Kippur) are days some of you may not be able to attend--please avoid inadvertently choosing those dates if you think you will have other plans.

Here are the dates (all Fridays). Please select at least three of the dates (you can choose all of them, if you like). Simply highlight the dates you want, either by underlining or putting them in bold, in a "reply" e-mail message.

August 2
August 9
August 16
August 23
August 30 (the start of Labor Day Weekend)
September 13 (Yom Kippur begins at sundown)
September 20
September 27

I expect everyone will get the dates they want, but if there are more requests for a particular date than there are places (six spots per Friday), then the spots will be apportioned on a first-come-first served basis. I will get back to you to see if you have alternate dates if you don't get all the dates you want.

Once your dates have been established, I will send you the dates and the total amount you owe. The payment for all the meetings you have chosen will be due before the start of the first meeting on August 2, and is not refundable.

Please get back to me as soon as you can with the dates you want, if you are interested. Feel free to pass this on to anyone you know who might find this useful.

Hope you are staying cool and enjoying the summer.

Best,

Tom Daley

PS We will resume the regular schedule of the workshop for writers working in creative prose at the Lemon Grass on Friday afternoons on October 4 (an eight-week session going through November 22).
