People I Want to See Tonight at Stone Soup

John Sturm

It's been a while since Stone Soup's favorite reciter has graced our podium as either an open mic poet or even a feature. I would love to see John again. I sent him an email recently and offered him a gift/bribe of some old tiny books of Shakespeare plays my Mom got through a friend. I figured they would be perfect for a open mic performer on the go.

The Puppet

My girlfriend's daughter, Molly, created this puppet for me for a grab bag prize that was handed out during Tim Gager's Dire reading earlier this month. I glued on the steel wool for the hair and beard but almost regretted it. I want to have Molly make another one, since it was such a big hit at the reading.

Yes, that's me providing the "ventriloquist" voice. The voice is based on Tracy Morgan, as impersonated by Jay Mohr and Artie Lange. Read the anecdote I'm, er, "quoting" from here. Sorry, Tracy.
