This Summer: The 2026 Boston Poetry Marathon

The Boston Poetry Marathon has been gathering since 1998. The tradition carries on in 2026 this summer. Join us as we host a weekend of poetry by over a hundred poets.

We are returning to our home at the Community Church of Boston on 565 Boylston Street in Boston's Copley Square.

I am grateful to co-organizers Christina Liu and Xtina Strong for their help in keeping this event going.

We are in the process of updating our website and hope to send notices to our poets soon.

A GoFundMe page will be dropping by Monday.

Thank you all for your support over the years.

Things I'm Proud of in 2023: Hosting the 2023 Boston Poetry Marathon.

I was asked to help organized this year's Boston Poetry Marathon. That means I helped host, recorded portions and helped keep everything clean and everyone fed. I also had to organized the Gofundme, which was enormously successful and helped pay for our space next year. There are few things I'm proud of this year. In fact, this may be this only thing.

I didn't take a selfie while at the podium, and my co-organizers didn't think to take a shot of me reading during my seven minute slot. So here's a dramatic reenactment taken after the fact. The Boston Poetry Marathon Is Happening This Weekend!

 

 

According to the schedule, I'll be reading for the Boston Poetry Marathon this Saturday at 3:00 PM. I'll also be helping the entire weekend. It's great to share my timeslot with Ruth Lepson, Suzanne mercury, Heather Hughes, Carol Weston and Jenny Grassi. 

Please join all of us at the Community Church of Boston this weekend for the BPM on August 5 and 6. We have an amazing line up this year.

Exhaustion kept me from posting my weekly dose last week. To make up for it, I present a selection of words and literature available from the Community Church of Boston, where I spent almost all my time documenting the recent Boston Poetry Marathon.

When You Want Forgiveness Too Much: My Boston Poetry Marathon Pastiche Poem

Normally, I do a weekly series on my blog called Stone Soup Croutons, poems created from half-heard lines, impressions and images from poems read on the Stone Soup Poetry open mic.  Last year, I decided to do a similar poem on the last day of the Boston Poetry Marathon.

This year, I tried to do it again, only this time starting Friday. This was not only my first attempt at trying to do a Croutons-type poem for all three days of the Marathon. It was also the first time I would attempt to stay for the entirety of all three days, all while giving my own eight minute reading and taking photos and video throughout the event.
