On Wings of Song

The unfinished struggle of the Civil Rights Movement in America continues to
unfold everyday on America's streets. Educator and poet, Molly Lynn Watt
will take us back half a century when she, a young adult with two babies
found herself working at Highlander Center in Tennessee and inside a
Maryville Jail for trumped up charges. This white mother from the Boston
area learned that the fury of racism could be directed at anyone. The
vehicle is witness poetry, a memoir laced with songs of the Civil Rights
Movement. The talk expands on the poems with stories and reflections. Signed
copies of her recent book, "On Wings of Song: A Journey into the Civil
Rights Era" will be available, proceeds go to Community Church.

Music by Dean Stevens, Molly Lynn Watt and Dan Lynn Watt. A friendly
luncheon will follow.
