Submit by Midnight

Guidelines for submission:

1) Send up to three poems on the theme of Selfhood, or how one relates to the world. Questions to consider: “What is a Self?” “How does one’s vision of oneself relate to how one receives or perceives the world?” “Is a Self born in you? Can you shape the Self?” “How does experience mold a person’s Selfhood?”

2) Include a short, third-person bio that tells the editors about you. Where have you been published? What is your relationship to literature and the arts? Do you have a favorite pastime? Who influences your writing?

3) Poems may reflect the six Greek words for love. See www.yesmagazine.org/happiness/the-ancient-greeks-6-words-for-love-and-why-knowing-them-can-change-your-life for reference.

4) Also accepting short prose, prose poems, and short essays (no more than two pages). Translations are acceptable.

5) One key philosophical question to strongly consider: “Is there a universal human nature? What makes a person choose the power of good over evil?”

6) One final section will consider the following: “How do we give of our Self?”

7) Please send submissions to Selfhood@gmail.com. We prefer .doc format for the writing sent as an attachment, and a bio in the body of the email. Cover letter is desired. In the subject header, put “Last name—City, Country of residence”

8) Please bear in mind that submissions that don’t follow these guidelines will not be considered.
