SOUTH OF BOSTON POETRY TRAIL
VOL: 7, No. 84, DATE: August, 2017

 BITS AND PIECES

We laugh,
We cry,

We write poetry,

The world smiles…

Just to let you know, that I have been informed that it is most likely at this time, the Plymouth Center for the Art will be closed for the months of January and February 2018 and maybe March 2018. They will be doing major repairs to the building to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Therefore, at this time the 2018 Visual Inverse will not be held in January 14, 2018 as scheduled, but we are not cancelling the event and will be looking for another date to put on this event. Also at this time we are seeking other locations on the South Shore to hold our Feb 4 and Mar 4 PTAOW as well as maybe a January 14 poetry reading but not Visual Inverse. So, if you know of a venue that may be able to host us please let me know.

Poetry Circle is Turning 18: Help Us Celebrate!
For 18 years, a monthly group at the Duxbury Free Library has shared and enjoyed poetry. On Thursday, October 12, the Poetry Circle and the Duxbury Free Library will honor this milestone “birthday” with an open mic evening of poetry presentation. Please join us from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Resource Room on the library’s Lower Level. No registration is necessary. Bring a poem or two to share, and please sign in by 7:00 if you want to read or recite. Listeners and poetry appreciators are very welcome! Refreshments will be provided. Call 781-934-2721, x5610 or email rhickey@ocln.org for further information.

Calliope is pleased to announce the release of Rich Youmans’s All the Windows Lit, a winner in the eChapbook Award Competition sponsored by Snapshot Press in Great Britain. Like a photograph or a portrait, these haibun (prose poems with haiku) capture the essence of ordinary people and experiences. As poet Karen Klein says, “All the Windows Lit is worth reading and re-reading." If you visit Calliope’s home page, www.calliopepoetryseries.com , you'll find a link to Snapshot Press to download a free PDF of All the Windows Lit and see all of Snapshot Press’s books. http://www.snapshotpress.co.uk/ebooks.htm.
