The Expresso Yourself Coffeehouse is an opportunity for musicians and spoken word artists to share their poetry, stories, and songs. It is held the last Saturday of every month at 7pm at the Historic Meetinhouse in Medfield, MA.
Are you up to the challenge to bring in a story/poem/song about this month's theme? One you have in your back catalogue or a new one hot off the presses?
We serve a delightful array of pastries as refreshments; some are freshly baked by volunteers. Come and join in the fun, either to enjoy as an audience member or to participate. Open mic participants have 6 minutes to share. Teens and adults welcome. If you want to sign up for the open mic, send an email to: theaiberall@yahoo.com
Thea Iberall has been called ‘a shimmering bridge between heart and mind.’ An inductee into the International Educators Hall of Fame, she is featured in the documentary “Poets, Passion and Poetry.” Her poetry has been published widely, including in On The Bus, New Works Review, The Southern California Anthology, poetrydiversity, Peregrine XVI, and Blood to Remember: American Poets on the Holocaust. As a performance poet and storyteller, she has featured at almost 100 venues including StorySpace, Open Spirit, Amazing Things Art Center, Limmud, Worcester State University, Berkshire Festival of Women’s Writers, and Long Beach Green Festival. She represented Los Angeles at the National Poetry Slams in 1998. In her visionary novel The Swallow and the Nightingale, a scientist must prove to an Orthodox Rabbi that same gender love is moral. Her one-woman show The Only Things Greek About Me Is My Name was seen at the Santa Monica Playhouse and other venues. Her musical We Did It For You! Women's Journey Through History is now in residence at the Marilyn Rodman Performing Arts Center in Foxboro. Using her artistic humor and command of languages, Thea's stories springboard from the personal into moral issues, scientific questions, and emotional truths.
