Michael Brown's first poem was published in 1969 in
Beyond Baroque. He did his first performances at the Poetry Slam in Chicago's
Green Mill in 1989. His first book,
Falling Wallendas, was published by Tia Chucha in 1994. In 2007 he and Valerie
Lawson moved to Maine where they took over the poetry quarterly Off the Coast.
In 2017 they turned over that publication to an intern. Since then they have begun
publishing books through Resolute Bear Press. His own books include The Man Who
Makes Amusement Rides (Hanover Press), Susquehanna and The Confidence Man
(Ragged Sky), and The Martin Bormann Dog Care Book. From 1962 until 2017 he
taught in various schools and universities and wrote for newspapers.

Valerie Lawson's work has been
published in Main Street Rag, BigCityLit, About Place Journal, The Catch,
Ibbetson Street, and others. Lawson has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize
three times.Most recently, Lawson edited 3
Nations Anthology: Native, Canadian & New England Writers published by
Resolute Bear Press, with poems, essays, and fiction from 58 writers, ranging
from those for whom this is their first publication to a nominee for the
Pulitzer Prize. 3 Nations won the Maine Literary Award for anthology in 2018.
