I submitted this blog to the National/Global Poetry Writing Month site this morning. That means people might be visiting here. And so, a little introduction.
My name is Chad Parenteau. I'm a poet, writer, author, editor ,commentator, reviewer and host of Boston's Stone Soup Poetry readings. I first participated in this poem-a-day challenge in 2005. Since then, I've taken part in the event every year except for 2014. I've finished most of those Aprils with at least thirty poems. I often don't write a poem a day most years, but I do my best to have 30 by month's end.
In recent years, in addition to the annual event, I also do other challenges like Stone Soup Croutons, a series of poems based on the weekly open mic I host. Then there's the more recent Picture to Page series where I write poems based on photos I've taken. I'll still be doing those exercises, which won't count towards the 30 poems for April.
I also manage Oddball Magazine, an interesting online journal that might make the perfect home for some of the work you finish this April.
I post a lot of poetry and non-poetry related news, so if you want to only read my daily entries for NaPoWriMo/NaPoGloMo only, you can follow this link.
Finally, if you want to follow me after April, you can get essential updates at my main site. I'll be updating both it and this blog later today with information about Stone Soup's online open mic tomorrow from 7-9 PM.
If you came from the main NaPoWriMo/GloPoWriMo page and you're reading this, leave a comment below with a link to your own page. I still have a day job amidst the current crisis and many other things to keep me busy, so it's harder for me to explore, but I would love to visit your web page later.
