Simon's death in the summer of 2006 was the first time I had dealt with death in a community I had some semblance of leadership over. We had a special reading at the Out of The Blue Art Gallery and published a poem of his in Spoonful a couple of years later. Unfortunately, this was all pre-Facebook for me. It wasn't as easy to stay in touch with people (something I was never good at pre-internet), and I lost contact with his family soon after.
I'm thinking I should reach out to them again.
