About the Film

There was a time when women couldn’t have jobs and had no voting rights. Women were property passed from father to husband. High-school student Melanie must learn how things changed. We Did It For You! Women's Journey Through History is the story of how women got their rights in America, told by the women who were there. It is an entertaining and quick tour through the journey, starting with the struggle women had in the 17th century Puritan Revolution through to our 21st century empowered women politicians.

This is a screening of a new film We Did It For You! It has many surprises in it for those who have seen the staged version. Stay after for a Q&A with the playwright Dr. Thea Iberall.

After you reserve your ticket, you will get a link and  also a reminder notice for the livestreamed performance.

About our sponsor

Suffrage100MA is a non-profit, non-partisan organization, dedicated to commemorating the 100th anniversary of the adoption of the 19th Amendment, which prohibits the federal and state governments from denying citizens the right to vote on the basis of sex. It took a 72-year struggle, by thousands of suffragists, to achieve adoption of the 19th Amendment in August of 1920.

A main goal of Suffrage100MA is to commemorate and tell the story of the remarkable achievement of the suffragists, including the tireless work and essential contributions of women of color, who were often excluded by white women’s suffrage organizations, and whose role in the suffrage movement has been largely overlooked.
