Your Wednesday Morning Poetry

The above picture is of Shappy Seasholtz and comes from his Facebook page. He passed away in his sleep this past Saturday.

Though we were Facebook friends the way I am with many poets, I'm sad to say I don't remember ever seeing him perform at the Cantab or any other slam venue I've attended. Still, I enjoyed his presence online and have appreciated the tributes written by many.

There are numerous YouTube videos of his performances, and you should seek them out. Today, however, I wanted to focus on two poems he published in PANK Magazine.

Because as much as I enjoy watching people perform their poetry, I am always more impressed by people who can make me laugh and feel shock with the printed word alone.
