A Moment of Comics

Another horror comic excerpt for October! Issue #4 of Scary Tales was the first anthology comic outside of Mad that my parents ever bought for me. I was obsessed with the issue's first story "Fear Feeder." Drawn by Carlos Vila and likely written by Joe Gill [Edit: Another source says it's J. Anderson], the Fear Feeder monster was a ripoff of Swamp Thing and other similar murky creatures from the muck. Funny. Until I searched for this story online, Fear Feeder looked more like Man-Thing in my memory. Maybe this is why I eventually gravitated to Alan Moore's Swamp Thing run.
