November 22: North Andover Poets Corner is back at Stevens Mem Library!

From North Andover Poet Laureate Mark Bohrer.

Dear Poetry Friends,

The North Andover Poets Corner is returning to the Stevens Memorial Library in North Andover after a nearly 3 year hiatus! And I am excited to say the feature is North Andover's own, poet Gayle C. Heney. Gayle will be bringing new poetry, including poetry inspired by Africa. Her performance will be followed by our always excellent open mic. Come to listen & bring a poem to share! Tuesday November 22 at 7:00 PM in the Rotunda room.

Gayle Heney is producer and host of the TV series Write Now and former two-term Poet Laureate of North Andover. She edited the poetry books Songs from the Castle’s Remains, and Leaf Sorrow Tree Strong and co-edited Soulmates. She was the winner of the 2021 Rockport Poetry Fest’s Haiga Poetry Contest, the featured poet for the Haverhill River Bards’ Spring Series, and published in the books WordPlay and Word Arts.

Her poetry has also appeared in Merrimack Mic Takes the Fifth, Anthology V, Methuen Life Magazine and elsewhere. As a mixed media artist, Heney was awarded “Best in Show” at the Arts Institute Group of the Merrimack Valley’s 2022 Essex Art Center Fall Show. Gayle Heney has led poetry workshops in libraries, schools, Cape Ann Museum, galleries, Essex Art Center and at MA Poetry Festivals.

The event will take place on November 22nd at 7PM in the Rotunda room at the library, 345 Main Street, North Andover. Hope to see you there!
